What are the key elements in aerospace parts processing?
Aerospace parts processing: Aerospace itself is a precision industry, so there are strict requirements for the processing of its parts.
It is understood that high-quality parts processing needs to meet five key elements. What are these elements specifically? Let's analyze them one by one below.
1. Materials
When processing parts for the aerospace industry, the major challenge that needs to be encountered is the procurement and selection of appropriate materials. The aerospace industry has very high requirements for raw materials of parts, and even high-temperature resistant alloys or special metals are needed, such as high-grade nickel, Incoel nickel alloy, Monel alloy and titanium, etc.
The hardness and heat absorption properties of these materials enable aerospace equipment to smoothly pass through the Earth's atmosphere during its journey into outer space.
However, the inherent properties of these materials also make their processing extremely difficult. Once there is improper processing, it may lead to the processed products not meeting the requirements. For instance, when nickel-based alloys are processed, it is very easy for the processing tools to wear out.
2. Tolerance
For the aerospace industry, even the slightest error can lead to serious accidents. Therefore, to ensure the safety of equipment flight, the error range is required to be relatively small. When processing parts, there should be no significant errors in terms of precision and accuracy. Some components are installed in a very small space. Once the tolerance is too large, it will cause the parts to be unable to be installed.
3. Inspection
Due to the highly regulated nature of the aerospace industry, the quality and inspection standards for the parts used are also quite strict. The parts produced must be certified by the relevant departments.
4. Quality
Substandard parts will inevitably affect the normal use of aerospace equipment. Therefore, parts leaving the factory are generally required to be of qualified quality.
5. Packaging
We know that the parts used in the aerospace field are rather special, and some of their edges even have a certain degree of sharpness. Therefore, packaging cannot be sloppy either. There are many parts that need to be specially packaged according to their dimensions and characteristics. The packaging used should be able to ensure that the parts can safely reach the users. Once the parts are scratched, make abnormal noises, or get bumped during transportation, it will affect their normal use.
When packaging parts, try to use standard packaging such as egg boxes. It may even be necessary to use special pallets or other customized packaging materials. Care should also be taken during transportation and handling to avoid damage to components.
